Severe Weather Alert: Texas Thunderstorms Threaten North Region

Severe thunderstorms expected in North Texas this week, with large hail and strong winds possible. Stay weather-aware, Dallas-Fort Worth! 🌩️🌪️

A disturbance high in the atmosphere, or a shortwave trough, is moving on a line from the U.S. Southwest to the Rockies heading east. This weather system is bringing the potential for strong to severe storms to develop in parts of North Texas as a cold front slides through this afternoon. There are already a few scattered showers in the area, especially northwest of Dallas-Fort Worth, and these will slowly move across the region through the morning hours. Despite the high temperatures in the 80s over the next two days, Monday is expected to bring the possibility of strong storms. Although the worst weather is expected to miss North Texas, there is still a risk of hail and strong winds north of I-20 and west of I-35.

Severe Storms Expected Monday and Tuesday

As a new cold front moves into North Texas today, the region is likely to experience another round of thunderstorms. The day will start very warm, but as the cold front approaches, the storms are expected to bring rain to Dallas-Fort Worth late Monday and early Tuesday. Following the storms, there will be a brief spike in high temperatures. The worst of the severe weather on Monday night is expected to stay away from North Texas, as a cap over the region will keep the thunderstorms west of the area. However, hail and strong winds are still possible to the north of I-20 and west of I-35.

Severe Storms Possible on Thursday

Thursday afternoon will bring the potential for strong to severe storms across parts of North Texas. The main threats with these storms are large hail and damaging winds. There is also a possibility of gustnadoes forming as a new line of storms heads towards the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The forecast for the week shows a mixture of rain showers, stormy weather, and brief periods of warm temperatures, making it important for residents to stay updated with the latest weather alerts and seek shelter if necessary.
