J&K Security Measures Ensure Peaceful Republic Day Celebration

Jammu & Kashmir celebrates Republic Day with tight security; Former terrorist leader embraces tricolour flag; Lt. Governor pays homage without internet curbs.

Security arrangements were in place across the Valley in Jammu & Kashmir ahead of Republic Day. The Jammu and Kashmir Police revealed that security arrangements were well organized, ensuring the safety and well-being of the region. There were no restrictions on movement or internet services due to waning protests. This year’s Republic Day celebration held special significance as a former terrorist leader, who once waged war against India, chose to embrace the tricolour flag as India celebrated its 75th Republic Day. The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, and Vice President, Omar Abdullah, extended their greetings to the people on this occasion.

Security Measures and Peaceful Celebration

As part of the security arrangements, a woman contingent of J&K Police performed during the Republic Day function at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar. The event was marked by the unfurling of the national flag by the Additional Resident Commissioner of the Jammu and Kashmir government. The Director General of Police, R.R Swain, emphasized the multi-tier security setup across the region and assured the public that mechanisms had been put in place to respond to any contingencies, ensuring a peaceful Republic Day celebration. Meanwhile, a senior army officer visited forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector to review operational preparedness.

Building a Modern J&K and Paying Homage

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed that sincere efforts have been made to build a modern Jammu & Kashmir. He paid homage to the troops by laying a wreath at the Balidan Stambh as a tribute to the fallen heroes. The celebration of Republic Day in Kashmir Valley proceeded without any internet curbs, contributing to the smooth flow of communication and normalcy in the region on this significant day.
